I’m in love with paper cake decorations. There, I said it.
So pretty. So charming. So much easier to make than fondant decorations.
They also make wonderful mementos that can be scrapbooked (if that’s your thing).
I made this cake for my sister in law Kaz who is a a seriously talented scrapbooker.
As I made the paper bunting and monogram, I knew that one day soon they would feature on a page with photos of the family celebration and cake.
I later found out that it was the first cake since her wedding cake that had been made for her. She absolutely loved it.
It also tasted di-licious.
The cake was a Victoria Sponge, filled with home-made strawberry jam and vanilla buttercream.
Outside is more of the vanilla buttercream. So simple and lovely.
This is the type of cake decorating I want to do more of in the future.
I will share the recipe with you someday soon as it cuts so beautifully. It’s definitely my new favourite birthday cake recipe.

What a beautiful cake! I pinned it so that I can use it for future inspiration!
